Gnanam School of business has organized a Workshop on “Applications on Business Analytics”. It was 4 days workshop. Prof. Dr. Murugesan, Statistician was the resource person. He gave handouts related to “Time Series Analysis and Forecasting” as well as some case studies. He explained the applications of Business Analytics in a pragmatic way with real world examples. It was easy to understand, coupled with real world examples. Moreover, the nuances of forecasting technique and time series analysis were inculcated to us.

Furthermore, we worked out the case studies and problems using sophisticated software such as SPSS, TORA, MS60. We learnt how to interpret the result in rational way. He gave numerous examples with statistical data and problems. The presentation of him was crystal clear. We weeded the doubts, which pertained to Business Analytics, out and he had explained it in a splendid manner.

At last, He taught a decision tree diagram with case studies. Through the decision tree, we learnt how to take a decision based on the probability of occurrence. It was completely new for us. Eagerly, we learnt about it. Hence, decision making is salient feature of business forecasting. Such a wonderful interactive lecture was given by Prof. Dr. Murugesan.
