INTRODUCTION:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Gnanam School of Business (GSB), in line with its mission of \u201cBenchmarking Excellence,\u201d organized a value-added course titled \u201cData Analysis Using Power BI and Tableau\u201d<\/strong> from 12th May 2025 to 24th May 2025<\/strong>, conducted at the GSB Computer Lab<\/strong>. The course was organized in collaboration with Syasan’s Career Analytics<\/strong>, a professional body renowned for its expertise in data analytics and business intelligence training. The sessions ran daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM<\/strong> and aimed to equip students with industry-relevant data visualization and business analytics skills.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>OBJECTIVES:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Introduce students to modern data visualization tools like Power BI and Tableau.<\/li>\n
  • Develop hands-on skills for analyzing and presenting data effectively.<\/li>\n
  • Enhance decision-making capabilities through data insights.<\/li>\n
  • Bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations in the analytics domain.<\/li>\n
  • Prepare students for real-world business intelligence challenges.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    LEARNINGS<\/strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    • Understanding of Power BI<\/strong>: Connecting datasets, creating dashboards, using DAX for calculations, and generating interactive reports.<\/li>\n
    • Proficiency in Tableau<\/strong>: Designing advanced visualizations, dashboards, filters, and parameters to derive meaningful insights from complex datasets.<\/li>\n
    • Data Cleaning and Preparation<\/strong>: Techniques to preprocess and clean data before visualization.<\/li>\n
    • Real-time Case Studies<\/strong>: Application of Power BI and Tableau on real-world datasets to solve business problems.<\/li>\n
    • Comparison and Integration<\/strong>: Understanding the strengths of both tools and scenarios for their integrated use.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Additional Information: Generative AI and ChatGPT<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      As part of the session, students were introduced to the emerging field of Generative AI, with a particular focus on ChatGPT\u2014an advanced AI language model developed by OpenAI. Generative AI refers to a category of artificial intelligence systems capable of creating content such as text, images, audio, and even code. ChatGPT, a leading example, is designed to understand natural language prompts and generate coherent, context-aware responses across a wide range of topics.<\/p>\n

      The session highlighted how ChatGPT and similar tools are transforming industries by enhancing productivity, automating content creation, supporting customer service, and enabling advanced data analysis. Students learned how these tools can be integrated into business workflows\u2014for example, by generating business reports, summarizing data insights, answering customer queries, or even assisting in writing code for Power BI custom visualizations.<\/p>\n

      This introduction to generative AI aimed to familiarize students with the ethical use, capabilities, and limitations of these tools, preparing them to leverage AI responsibly in their academic and professional pursuits.<\/p>\n

      CONCLUSION:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      The value-added course was highly beneficial for the participants, providing them with a competitive edge in the job market. The collaboration with Syasan\u2019s Career Analytics ensured high-quality, hands-on training that complemented the academic curriculum.
